Club Tennis Cornell
Should I apply to Cornell University or University of Virginia, or would that be a waste of my time?

Hi, I’m Taylor, and I am a Junior at an I.B. school.
I dance 4 days a week- ballet.
I have played piano for 7 years.
I participate in my school’s tennis/cross-country teams. I won the MVP award for tennis last year.
I participate in the newspaper & yearbook clubs at school.
This summer I am taking a 3 week trip to Europe for a student ambassador program.
My GPA unweighted is about a 3.0 from freshman/sophmore year, but now I have a 3.7 unweighted GPA (A-) from this year alone. (I don’t know what my full GPA is though.)
I take 3 IB HL classes: History, Latin, & English. (I am an IB diploma candidate.)
For my college application, I will probably focus on ballet as my central passion in order to stand out from other applicants, perhaps?
Am I out of my league to apply to schools like Cornell University or University of Virginia? If those are out of my league, then what other good colleges/universities should I consider?

No, it sounds like you could get accepted to both those schools as long as the grades keep getting better and your test scores are good too. I’d also look at….

Tufts University
Georgetown
Wesleyan
Vanderbilt
Vassar
Emory
George Washington
New York Univ.
Boston College
Brown
Columbia
