Club Tennis Stanford
Will I be accepted to Stanford or an Ivy?

Normally, I think asking these type of questions online is pointless and useless; however, I’m doing this just to get feedback from anyone willing to give any…I’m a senior now, and I’m wondering whether I should apply early to Stanford or an Ivy? I don’t know if I have any chance at all…please be honest.

GPA: Unweighted: 3.94
Weighted: 4.58
SAT1s: 2100
SAT2s: math 790, ushistory700

I’m ASB treasurer, Octagon Club president for 3 years. Tennis and Track 4 years. Tennis captain. Class treasurer for 2 years. Key Club secretary. Various leadership positions in Key Club.

650 hours of community service.

Um…that’s the gist of it. It would really be helpful if you were accepted to Stanford or any Ivys. I’m mostly aiming towards privates..please tell me if I have any chance at all.

I took 3 honors, 2 college classes, 4 APs.
Classes like Bio AP, Eng AP, AP US History, Calc AB. I’m taking BC, Spanish AP, Econ AP now.

Wow, you have a lot of awesome things going for you. It’s very impressive that you’ve done so much community service work.

You should absolutely apply to Stanford & the other schools you are interested in because you definitely have a shot. As the other people who answered pointed out & you probably already know, these schools are so ferociously competitive that virtually no one is a shoo-in. I’ve attended a ton of info sessions, and the recruiters have said that applicants who have demonstrated leadership and ambition, sought out challenges, and are well-rounded are the ones who stand out the most. You’ve done all those things.

Now you just need to write killer essays. All the applications are available on Common Application, so if you haven’t already looked them over you might want to now. You might want to ask your English teacher to read over them and give you feedback. Maybe you could also ask someone from one of the community service projects you’ve worked on could write you a letter?

One of my friends was recruited by Harvard for their tennis team, so that is another angle you could work.

Best of luck to you!
