If Roger Federer wins the 2008 Tennis Masters Cup, how many ranking points will he attain?
How close will he move towards reclaiming the number one ranking?
Radal has 6675 ranking points while Federer has ranking 5205.
Well Roger can add a minimum of 550 and maximum of 750,
Points are awarded for every match at TMC, the point allocation works like this.
1- 100 points for each round robin match won
2- 200 points for Semi Final win
3- 250 points for Final win
so a max of 750 points are up for grabs.
In case Roger wins the title without losing a match he will add 750 and move to 5955 in case he loses a match but wins the title like last year he will move to 5855, and least likely of all if he loses 2 matches in round robin and still qualifies, and ends up winning the title then he will jump to 5755.
So in best case scenario for Roger, he will reduce the gap to 720 points.
However he cant look too far ahead he has to take it 1 match at a time.

Edit: No Eric the rankings work differently for Masters cup, its different, the points from last years Masters Cup are dropped on the last Monday before the event, and then its a fresh start, so he can gain points
