Division Two Tennis
Tennis advice needed badly….?

Hi, I play on a division three womens tennis college team. Today i had a match and I lost. I have this issue where I keep holding back from hitting harder shots because I fear the risk that if I do hit a harder shot that my ball will go out. Generally my balls dont go out too much when I hit it a little harder but ocassionally they do and im afraid to take that risk. At the same time though, if I dont take the risk my games never go anywhere , the ball just flies back and fouth endlessly. Should I take the risk, knowing that at least if i lose I played a tough game and didnt hold back too much. Should i keep holding back, or whats the best way to balance the two??????? Please help me, my game is down. THANK YOU

well in division 3 u will see a lot of different players, read your opponent… I played division 3 myself and was the player of the year and had the most wins and we came in runner up to national champs… so i suggest if you can hit consistant, go for it, and if you are afriad you will lose the point, rush the net if it isnt going anywhere, or try and drop shot then pass them… a lot depends on what you can do, and what your opponent can do… I win games by rallying them to death, and staying in the point, if the rallies went to long i would rush the net when i had the chance… some people will rally forever, dont worry about hitting winners, just work your opponents weaknesses, if they can rally back with hard shots, then try to rush the net, if they pass you, then try drop shot or lobs, work in practice to find what you do best BESIDES rallyin g soft hits. My forehand was the softest on the team and I still won the most points doing it like this way I explained… i had the fastest serve though….
