New Tennis Rankings
How does the ATP tennis ‘entry’ rankings work?

I understand that the ‘race’ starts at the start of the year and ends at the end of the same year, and that you gain points different amounts of points depending on which tournement and how far you get in the tournement.
I ALSO understand that for the entry if you recieved 100 points in 1 tournement and 50 in anouther you would be on 150points, and then if you went to the same tournements the next year and only got 75points in the first tournement then your points would be 150 – 75 = 75(by chance the same). HOWEVER, what if you then got 50 or MORE points in the second tournement (the one you scored 50in last year), what is your ranking now?
Do you add the new score?
keep it the same?
what?

Actually, if you got 75 in the first tournament, you’d have 75+50=125 points before the 2nd tournament. If you get 75 points for the second tournament, you’ll have 75+75=150 points again.

The points aren’t really subtracted per se. You are not punished for doing worse. What happens is that before the tournament begins your points are stripped since the ranking only includes 52 weeks. So for example if you had 400 points total, but 100 of them came from the tournament you’re playing in now, at the beginning of this week, you’d have 400-100=300 points. If you get 75 points this week, you’ll have 300+75=375 points.
