Public Tennis Courts in NYC?
I love to play tennis, wondering whether there are any free public tennis courts in the NYC Area (NYC, Queens, etc)
there are. they are located in certain nyc parks.
first you need to get a tennis permit (annual permits cost $100 for adults, and $10 for under 16. if you want a permit to play one game, they cost $7) with the permit, you can now sign up for any tennis court located in a nyc park in nyc and play for free.
the courts may be empty upon arrival, if there is a waiting list, you just sign your name and wait until the party finishes playing, and then you’re next. the only parks that require advance reservation are the courts located in central park and in prospect park. those you have to reserve in advance with the nyc parks department and they also come with a reservation fee.
here’s a list of all tennis courts (in the parks) in nyc including the tennis courts at the tennis stadium in flushing meadows. they have hard courts, clay courts, indoor courts, stadium courts, outdoor courts.
