Tennis Money Leaders
Tennis – equal pay / unequal work?

Women need to do 3 sets.
Men need to do 5 sets.
They are paid the same.

Why is it fair to get equal money for clearly less work?

Remember… feminists have been demanding this discriminative action, why call yourself a feminist knowing the ‘leaders’ are working for preferential treatment as oppose ‘true equality’?

Why is there such thing as “women’s tennis” anyway? Why does Serena Williams get to be a millionaire for being the 10,000th best tennis player in the world? She could play a hundred matches against Federer or Nadal and would never even win a game.

And I agree about the three sets deal. Ridiculous. What is the justification? It’s the hangover from a time when it was thought that women’s bodies couldn’t cope with the stress. Women weren’t allowed to run the marathon until 1984 I think it was. Of course, women wanted to be allowed to compete in all the athletic events so they applied pressure for change – fair enough. But this inequality favoured female tennis players so they didn’t complain.

Carrie, I can’t remember the exact numbers, but the ticket-price for the men’s final at Wimbledon is much higher than the women’s.
