Tennis Ntrp Levels
Some Tennis Questions?
Ok. Well, I have been playing tennis for about 2 years now, and according to the self rating NTRP ratings, I think I am between a 3.5 and a 4.0. I play once a week for 2 hours usually. At this rate, will I be able to be at a professional level inside 5 years or so? Also, my match play isn’t very good. No matter how well I do in drills, I always end up loosing in matches, even if its just a practice match. How could I make my match play better. sorry I wrote a lot, lol.
Practice is the key, not only is it important to practise all aspects of your game (forehand, backhand, serve, volley, smash, footwork, game plan etc…) but it will greatly benefit you if you are able to practise consistently. I would recommend at least 3-4 times a week for around 90 minutes. If you are able to sustain this workload for 5 years and really dedicate yourself I feel that professional tennis would not be entirely out of the question. In addition to this it is pivotal that you maintain a healthy lifestyle and a high level of fitness (allowing you to play out strenuous matches). In regards to actual matches, I feel (based on personal experience) that due to a fear of losing points people may play safer, not willing to take many risks. So I would advise you to integrate possibly a more aggressive way of playing but not erratic.
If you don’t take risks in a match you will lose to a player that did.
