Why are women’s organizations called women (then the association)?

why don’t they just call them lady (then association? ex: Ladies tennis club)
Is that the international trend?

We are women. What is the problem? Why are men’s organization’s not called gentlemen’s organizations? Sounds silly doesn’t it.? There are many more important things in the world to waste your work hours thinking about.
