Tennis Dampeners
Use string dampers?

some guys on my team tennis use string dampers and others use rubber bands on their racquets including me, but what is the advantage of the steamer?

Dampeners absorb much of the vibrations of the racket after to hit the ball. This means that the vibrations do not travel to the handle of your bat and give your arm, it helps prevent injuries like tennis elbow means. Since, however, absorb the shock good and bad vibrations, you will not be able to "feel" the ball. This is why some people rubber bands . Use I think in terms of cushioning, rubber bands between the "no-shock" and "damper" are what make you feel better means. Also rubber bands are much safer. I can not use shock without jumping out to a few points, and for me rubber bands to keep my bat for a long time. So, in effect, rubber bands-Pros: More feel safer, cheaper (you get about 100 rubber rings for a dollar) Disadvantages: Less damping Cons: look funny (even if I look funny the rubber bands) Shock-Pros: More cushioning Pro: Do not look so funny, more more "professional" Look Cons: Less feel for the ball Cons: A little expensive, very angry when they fail BTW, check out this site, how to secure a rubber band Binding on your strings. http://home.pacbell.net/gmlasam/rubberband.html Note: I have never seen the really thick rubber bands, but the thin used. I think the thick Rubber bands absorb as much shock as the shock to do.
