Tennis Forehand Swing
how can i become a better tennis player?

i REALLY want to make varsity next year!!!!

ok so my main problems are:::
1) power-using my upper body mainly in my forehand swing
2) serving correctly

if you could give me some tips that would be GREAT

and thanks for your help

You really want to focus on your core for tennis, so lots of sit-ups, etc.
Don’t try to “force” power, that just makes you tense up and flex in order to swing harder. The power comes from the speed of the racquet, so you want to swing faster, but that doesn’t mean having a loose grip on the racquet. Don’t try to muscle the ball.

For your serve, make sure you’re tossing the ball high enough so that you hit the ball at around your maximum reach. This allows your wrist to naturally snap through the ball, especially when you swing up at the ball. Don’t try to swing through it and push it in.

Really, it would be great if you got a coach if you don’t have one already. Lessons are incredibly helpful, and it’s a huge mental comfort if you have someone experienced that you can go back to when you need help.

Best of luck to you!
