Girls Tennis Conditioning and tryouts?

I decided to try out for the girl’s tennis team next year in high school!
I never tried out for a sport before and am considering the summer conditioning.
What do girls do at tennis conditioning? How much do you run regularly? And do you need to be fast?
What can i do now, at home to get into tennis shape?

Running is a tennis staple. A mile or two a day for at least 3 days of the week should be good. You also have to do side shuffles which is so useful to recovering in each groundstroke you hit. It’s always good to be fast, but I’d recommend to have more stamina than speed. Also try to do some crunches since you’ll be using your core a lot in tennis. Do lunges and squats to strengthen your legs. Don’t do too much at first, just try to do a little then work your way up. If you do this, you’ll should be a good shape. Remember to hydrate and stretch! Good luck =)
