By senior year i will be the captain of my tennis team, captain of the debate team, I am on my school science research team, and I am the founder of a greek classicism club at my school
i am also a nationally ranked squash player and by the time i apply to college i should be in the top 30 in the country
and i can write that i am mexican/hispanic whatever it is on my college application

Well, if everything that you have said is true (and many of the things that you said seem to be projections and/or goals, not fact) then you certainly have a better chance than 2.5 GPA Joe Schmoe from Ohio. However, there are several factors that come into play – what do you want to study? What school do you want to attend? Would you be applying for student aid, or are you / your parents paying for your education?

Ivy League schools tend to specialize in subject matter. For example, there’s a reason that Harvard is known for business and law; Yale for law as well, but also historical studies; Cornell is engineering… So if you’re applying to the school that fully specializes in your desired subject matter (which would make sense), then you have to expect that there will stiff competition for that same course of study. You may have solid credentials, but there is always someone else that has better. The final determination of the matter often ends up being those essays you have to write during the application process – that’s often the time that you have to convince those admissions deans why, even though Joe Doe has a 4.0 GPA and a slough of extracurricular activities, YOU are the one that DESERVES the right to attend that school.

To answer your question simply, seems like you’re on the right track.
