Is the national media braindead?
Yes, it is a big deal to score 50 points. But is it a BIGGER deal that LeBron James drops 50 on the WORST team in the league than an NBA team (ANY NBA team) wins its 16th in a row?
Year after year, I get so sick of the national media ignoring the Houston Rockets almost completely. For God’s sake, when the Rockets won their first championship in 1994, they didn’t even make the cover of Sports Illustrated. SI prepared a “special” cover for the Houston market, but the rest of the country got golf or tennis or whatever. It’s OK to ignore the Rockets most of the time. But gosh darn, this winning streak is something that just cannot be ignored. Can you imagine the pandemonium if it were the CELTICS who had won 16 in a row (which they have not done since 1966 by the way)?
Winning 16 games in a row is a BIG deal. It doesn’t matter if the team is in South Texas or Louisiana or Alaska. It’s a BIG deal….
Get use to it. The clowns on ESPN are not reporters. They simply talk about what there bosses want to hear. And every LeBron James story is followed by When will he be in New York. That story was not about him scoring 50, it was about New York Fans giving him a standing ovation.
