Tennis Question: How to beat a “pusher”?

My friend is a “pusher” meaning he hits everything back. I can’t seem to beat him for some reason. I’ve tried serve and volley and that fails because he sees me at net and then he lobs it over me. I hit with lots of topspin, yet he still manages to get it back over and he makes me run sometimes. I try to make him run and get him tired but he still gets it back over. I have tried hitting topspin lobs to his backhand but he just sidesteps it and hits it back as a forehand. He is a fairly fast player not faster than me. I have tried making him come to net by hitting short shots but he returns it deep so I have to hit it back right at him. I am a left handed player about 6’0″. He is right handed and about 5’5″-5’6″. I am faster than him but he is not a slow player. I am not very good at slicing so I can’t make him come up to the net often. I am also not good at drop shots. Is there any specific strategy I can use to beat him? He doesn’t have a very good 2nd serve and I usually attack it.

well with pushers it is usually the best strategy to take a short ball and hit an aggressive approach shot to his back hand…hopefully he will give u and easy enough volley…which u should be able to put away
