Do you know who the most dominant tennis player in history is?
No, it’s not Federer. Not Nadal either, or Laver or Court or Seles.
It’s none other than… Esther Vergeer.
She’s a wheelchair singles + doubles tennis player ranked number 1 in the world consecutively since 1999. In singles, she has not been beaten since January 2003 and is on a winning streak of 418 matches, and she has won the year end championship consecutively from 1998-2010. She also won the gold medal in the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Olympics. Look at her stats:

Am I the only one who didn’t know her before?
Forgot to mention that her Grand Slam results in singles doesn’t include any Wimbledon championships. And her grand slam final results for the past two years where she attended are:
2009 US Open Final: 6-0 6-0
2010 French Open Final: 6-0 6-0
2010 US Open Final: 6-0 6-0
2011 Australian Open Final: 6-0 6-0
2011 French Open Final: 6-0 6-2
Yes, I know what you mean, but you also have to take into account that the wheelchair tennis Grand Slams have not got a big draw and not that many players participate. But still, her record is very impressive and something she should be proud of for the rest of her life!
All credit to her for everything she has done in tennis! I hope she can become more well known and used as a great ambassador for wheelchair tennis in the world today!
