Why do couples fight about money?
I don’t get this one at all. We don’t ever fight about money. I don’t really care one way or the other.
My wife doesn’t work, hasn’t worked in 10 years. She’s fairly frugal, buys some expensive purse occasionally and belongs to a fancy tennis club… but otherwise she buys stuff for the kids, etc.
My parents used to fight about money… basically my dad was a tightwad and my mom got angry that we never did anything fun. I think she was right, so now that I’m older and married, I let my wife spend the money however she sees fit. Why wouldn’t everyone do this?
I just have no energy to fight about money, it seems like a waste of time and effort. I’d rather drink a beer.
Until my current bf money was never an issue in any of my relationships. But he is always broke, totally irresponsible with money, and seems to not have any purse strings when it comes to spending others (i.e. my) money.
So it has become an issue. We are very different with how we view it and handle it. It is really difficult for me since almost everything else is great and I’m not used to money being an issue.
