Women's Golf Fashion — anything goes

Do you think it's hard to love golf clothing, although you a golfer? Are women are always difficult, the best outfits in the wardrobe to find. But now it is your season!

First, you can choose, short shorts, short skorts (a la Michelle Wie), traditional shorts, knee-length shorts, traditional skirts, Capri pants and / or traditional pants. The big golf clothing manufacturers such as EP, tail, Liz Golf, Astra, Bette & Court, make soils in many different styles and even textiles. And, except for traditional courses with strict dress codes, almost anything goes.

The old rule used to be: one of the top women's golf had to be either a collar or a sleeve have. Tank tops are not, why they do not appear very often on the golf course. But in between tank-tops and traditional striped golf shirts with "old lady" sleeves, many new T-shirts (without collars) and many new sleeve styles (shorter Sleeves and some sleeves). Stretch fabrics are "in", together with hi-tech microfiber blends.

Bad news for you: If you go to one of the great golf-apparel specialty stores, you may not see the variety of styles.

Unfortunately, the typical on-course Golf pro shop simply can not afford to stock five different styles of IZOD Rock. This means that many women find they have to really shop at different places you can find the new Golf fashion.

Curiously, all in the style of innovation through the women's golf apparel company has a different problem for the golf apparel makers created. Now, where anything goes, women golfers have not save to a "Gulf" go to "golf" clothes to buy. In fact, younger women golfers (Women aged 18 to 29 are the fastest growing segment in the industry) are just as likely their clothes at the Gap or Nordstrom than at the pro shop at a fancy golf resort to find.

The reason for this small, five-button collared shirts (with stretch) at the Gap disappear from the shelves so quickly that women golfers draw them up – in multiples. This spring, The Gap offers a "shadow" shirt in orange and turquoise, from the same designer, as Nike T-shirt in the last Kraft Nabisco Tournament designed seems to be inspired.

How have women golf apparel so quickly from traditional to contemporary? I have a few explanations.

Several years ago, started as a golf rounds and sales slipping down, landed golf apparel manufacturer in a different way to way to women's apparel To increase sales. They decided that more women would buy more golf clothes when she could for more than golf apparel. That makes sense! The theory that I have more pay for a pair of taillights Capri pants in this wonderful non-wrinkle fabric that I worked for wear on the golf course, on casual work days or to the grocery store for me.

Once golf clothes over to non-golf-clothes, the reverse also happens. Now women could a pair of Bermuda shorts at Lands End or LLBean buy and wear them for golf. And when women do buy clothes for golf apparel in the main-stream retailers like Nordstrom, the dealer what retailers best: they changed styles more often so that they were new and trendy. Major brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren took a similar path. You can make a polo golf shirt in the latest shade of green purchase at Bloomingdale or your favorite golf shop. Buy it and wear it around everywhere.

Around the same time like the golf-apparel manufacturers did more cross-merchandising and sales, the younger celebrities such as golf, Morgan Pressel, Natalie Gulbis – three names – made news the links and in major newspapers. They no longer had to read a golf magazine to see how short shorts were Michelle. And, they do not like your mother's appearance golf shorts. Hey! This game looks cool.

The entire spectrum of golf fashion was clearly felt in the last two groups play on the LPGA Kraft Nabisco Tournament Palm Springs in early April 2006. The winner of the tournament, Karrie Webb was wearing traditional navy golf shorts with a pleated front and a very traditional horizontally striped traditional Golf-shirt raised and worn with a belt. She is just over 30 and was the oldest player in the last two groups. Lorena Ochoa from Mexico, the second to Webb in the play was ready, wearing long and lean, dark blue shorts – just above the knee – and green polo-shirt-tails out. Michelle wore a short black skort (about the same Length of a tennis-skirt) and a red shirt with a collar. Gulbis and a black and white, wearing tight-fitting shirt with no collar – worn out – a short black skort.

There you have it – quite a number of golf styles. And ordinary golfers like you and I can wear one of them. Note: it does not have blue jeans on the golf course made in the U.S. My advice: Do not push the envelope by wearing jeans – unless you play golf in Sweden.

So all this diversity and choice in clothing good for women's golf. I think so.

Years ago, when a woman thought about taking golf, they had to inquire about purchasing think a golf "outfit". Not anymore. Well, if you want to play this game, there's probably something hanging in your closet, you can easily to wear. (A simple T-shirt and medium-length shorts will do.) This is one less barrier to growing the game for women. The price of golf clubs, lessons, tee times and too little time to provide enough barriers!

Something that makes golf more accessible and affordable for women, I think, is good for the Golf. Of course, everything has limits. Maybe one or two LPGA pros wear skirts that are a little too short.

It has never been for Women look easy, good on the golf course.
