Tennis Trivia Questions
Who was the first U.S. president to play tennis?
I've searched and searched but can not find anything on the subject. There is a quiz question at work and when we get right, we get some kind of award. It is always fun, but this one has me stumped. If you can tell me, please add a link so I can print it. Thank you!
I think it would be Theodore Roosevelt. He had built a court in the White House grounds in 1903.He have to play, and people said he had his "Tennis Cabinet." (Built in New York Times, April 27.1903 article on the court) I am a member of the tennis Collectors of America. The Winter 2008 issue of the journal TCA tennis. It has a very good article about TR, and the White House's by Clark Benson. The journal is only members. But you can e-mail from Mr. Benson. He is a first-class tennis expert. He may help you, the evidence you want. I had clark@woodtennisrackets.com a glimpse of the President, am not preceded Roosevelt.I played.I doubt one of them sure it's possible to know for certain whether any of them ever a court was on foot and hit a few balls. But Teddy was, apparently, the first really play.
